Spotted at the side of the road with a for sale sign in the window,a mk2 2 door.Looks quite tidy and he's only asking £800.I just wish i had some spare dosh. :smoking:

mk2 2 door. could be a 1600gt or a twincam matey. sounds quite good for the price. but the mk2`s are prone to allot of rot in the boot. along the front slam. inner wings and strut tops. doors bonnet and bootlid.

This is what you want .. spotted at exeter services last sunday ..lotus cortina mk2 not a good pic but it looked immaculate

a four door mk2 lotus Dave ? thought they were all 2 door but i was more of a mk3 man back in a day although i did own a 2 door mk2 with a 1500gt lump fitted......there are alot of fakes about like 1.2 deluxe models painted and made to look like a lotus and a mint mk2 lotus is worth a lot more than 4k..as for rust im pretty sure most un-restored models nearly 40 yr old will have there fair share of.....

I didn't think that many Mk2's got painted in the white and green. A mate at work has a Mk1 tucked away in his garage, an ex race car. I'd much prefer a Mk1 myself but their slow by todays cars standards.
We have lots of Mk2 1600E front fog lamps at work. Strangely enough they are used as emergency lighting around the factory. Newer versions use the rectangular fog lamps of Escort 1300E's. Needless to say these lights are very old but in perfect condition. Must be 20 years or more since they have been used due to a power failure.

Good point .. never thought of the door issue and like you say i am sure they were all 2 door versions .. Knew i should have gone up to him and had a good look when i first saw him pull in ... Ohhh well you live and learn lol ;)

I've always had a soft spot for Cortinas. My dad had two - a mk2 and a mk3, both 1300's!

dave. thats a 1600e made up to look lotus. never did a 4 door varient. untill they rebadged them twincams. then they had a 4 door. for a decent 2 door lotus in the white and green looking at £4k for a decent one with some rot. for a A1 condition your looking close to £7k. compared to the Mk1 lotus which in the ermine white and green flash colours your looking at £7k for a scabby one with need of restoration up to £25k for a A1 varient. mine went for 15k 11 years ago. i have seen one built for a certain malcom wilson which has cost so far to restore and build £62k. so they are worth allot more. the Mk2 is cheaper. but you got to look out for copy`s.

Tbh honest i think its a 1200 lux,it looks quite basic.If anyone was intersted i could jot down the phone no next time i'm passing. :naughty:

If the Cortinas (and come to that, mk2 Escort) my Dad had are anything to go by, yes!
