Hi
Has anyone on here done this conversion ie done away wuth the injection system I know the banger boys are now doing this You can buy custom made manifolds on Ebay to suit a 2L pinto carb
I wonder how you get on with all the sensors and the ecu Was a zetec engine ever fitted with a carb as standard maybe early zetec engined Escorts I would be interested to know what you guys think

most conversions on the cortina and escorts use a throttle body system. and pancake filter. not a proper carb setup. you can run twin 40`s on a zetec. webcom and alpha do conversions but the twin throttlebodys and alpha management seem to work better and give decent results. something else to think about is a unichip and R1 bike carbs. with a custom inlet manifold these release allot of power. looking from the standard 136bhp on a silvertop to possible 170+ bhp. with the right cams and mapping you could touch 200bhp on na 4-pot.

he means the zetec conversions done on the old cortina's, mk1 and mk2 escorts etc which has become a popular culture these days.
they dont have the emissions probs so they can go mental with the carbs, tb's, etc.

Mk1 2.0 Ghia - Supercharged NOS etc

yep alpha conversion. pintos are getting hard to find in decent condition nowadays so people are going like phil said down the route of the twin cam zetec rather than rebuild a pinto. also if you bang a turbo on the side of a zetec mondeo engine in RWD setup your looking at rs 3 door power for cheap outlay. alpha do a conversion system that takes the pipe from the front to the back of the engine for the waterpump. proper mounts for the coilpack on the side of the engine instead of at the back as it is on the FWD zetec engines. also they do the ecu to fit as well to make it all set up and work. being a cortina your looking at No cat. no emissions problems and allot more power released from a decent 2lt engine. think about it. pintos retail second hand about the same as a mondeo mk1 zetec engine. parts are easy to get and upgrade and being in rwd situ its easier to sort out too. plus reliable to boot.

thats what i did'nt catch on !
the tina's we use are x/flow powered
pinto's on a very rare occassion
grannies we use pinto's even though would prefer v6's if we could !
pintos are still out there as we tend to get sierra's & mk3 grannies
im old skool where everything is driven from the rear, although fwd stuff is more competitive !
