Back in November 2011 I changed job which needed a commute of 30miles each way. The LPG powered ST200 I had was costing more and more in repairs, with parts becoming rarer and rarer. It grew too much to bear and she had to go, and a diesel was needed to replace her. After trading in the ST200 in part-ex, I managed to get my current Mondeo for the princely sum of around £900 cash. Total was around £1800.

Well, on the 15th October 2015 the car has finally had it.

The odometer was showing over 163k miles, but after purchase I found that the car had infact covered 20k more miles than originally sold. The car had covered in excess of 180k miles, and after this time the DMF had finally died.

In the years I have owned the car, she has cost me a refurbished turbo and actuator, and a previous owner had one of the injectors refurbished too. Only other large item to replace was the aux belt and pully.

With a private sale value of around £750, a damaged rear bumper and a cracked rear light (held together for 2 years with glue and sellotape), the time has come for her to be put do rest.

I'm not overly bothered to be fair, we was never in love. It was a mutual agreement. She wanted to be driven and I needed a car to drive. She has been a loyal workhorse but she couldn't get me past Christmas.

Her fate? She is to be sold to a local mechanic who wants to take parts from her. I see no issue with her being a donor car to help other Mk3 Mondeo's recover from illness. But for me, the cost of a new Clutch and DMF was unjustifiable, and the life support must be cut.
As they say round these parts, "si thee in't fog!"
