I hope somepone can help, I need to replace the rear brakes on my MK4 estate.
I'm clear on what to do with the exception of the brake pad retaining clips.
I have bought genuine parts, two of these clips are rubber coated, the other two are just plain metal.
Where exactly do the...
Mondeo Mk4 2.0 TDCI 163 Auto.
Got a fault whereby when the brakes are applied there's a clunking sound. Then, when you select reverse, start moving and then apply the brakes you get the same sound. Then, select drive, travel forward and then when you apply the brakes, same clunking sound.
My nct/mot was today and failed on brakelines/hoses offside rear, ie brake pipe. Was advised to get both done. How big a job is this and is it like other cars a short copper pipe to brake hose?
Waiting on quotes as local ford wont do it ie no pipe bending kit.
The other items I was...
I need help with the type of bolts for conversion. Sadly, i cant find what pitch they have. I know they have to be 35mm long and they must be M12 but what pitch? 1.5? 1.75?
It will be classic conversion .. mk3 calipers with ST170 discs
I noticed today that my o/s/r wheel was hot and smelt of hot brakes.
I assume the Caliper is sticking on a bit. Is there a quick fix for this or is it best to replace the Caliper.
I guess it is possible that it could be a handbrake issue.
I did a complete set of brakes on the 5 door so here are the guides. The rear caliper was 'interesting' in that the RH one turned opposite to expected/instructed so I supposed be wary of the official advice out there. The fronts I bodged with the hammer & screwdriver trick, better with a tool...
I have a 99 mondeo 2.5 which is well overdue a brake fluid change.
Quick question is - I have read on these pages that people start with the caliper furthest away from master cylinder (o/s rear) and then work in distance order towards the master cylinder.
Just read Haynes manual for my year...
My partner has just bought a 2011 Ford KA studio.
I noticed that one of the side brake lights and the 3rd brake light (strip) were not working. The side brake light just required a new bulb so fixing this issue was quite easy.
The 3rd brake light seems a little more confusing. I took it out...
Hello, first time post I just bought an old 02 manual focus hatchback TDDI, it's in good condition and looks well looked after, drives well.
The problem I have is at low speeds the brakes feel like they don't have any assisted power and I have to really stomp my foot down, at higher speeds the...
My Mk3 has recently developed an odd issue - when moving off or coming to a stop I can hear a knocking/thumping/popping from the rear left corner. It sounds as though something keeps binding and then letting go.
My first thought was the brakes sticking, but I've had the brakes apart and checked...
Wondering if someone could help me diagnose the issues I'm experiencing with both the Clutch & Brakes on a 2.0 TDCi Zetec S... -
The clutch pedal needs to be pressed about 1/3 of the way down before it engages - I can tap the pedal in the first 1/3 of range & it almost bounces with no...
I had car checked out by a non ford garage a few days ago, have noise from rear, anyway wheel bearing gone on passenger side and brakes pads were checked as well. It was pointed out that the pads on one wheel, rear on drivers side were a lot thinner than on passenger side. I am thinking of...
New here on the forum, but with having 2 aging Mondeos i figure i might as well register, since i end up here all the time in my searches.

I've just changed the front discs and pads on my 2.5T MK4 Mondeo, before I changed them the brakes worked fine but after changing and bleeding the pedal goes to the floor with the engine running. Engine off and pedal is as hard as possible.
Any one have any ideas as to what's happened?
Got another problem with my car, mk1 zetec focus 1.6. The biting point is very high and have to rev a lot to get going or else it'll stall. I was wondering if I bought this it'll fix the problem. Also how does a flywheel come into this, would i need it or is that something different...
I have a 2003 Ford Focus Mk1 1.6, I wanted to get my brakes changed but i don't know which brands are the best for my style of driving. I'm a very, let's say aggressive driver, and I harsh brake and wheel spin occasionally so I wouldn't want my brakes to catch fire.
I was looking...
Fusion 1.6 tdci
As I'm driving and come to a junction and drop the clutch and brake, the revs are holding about 1200rpm
until i let go of the brake pedal. Then drops to about normal.
This doesn't happen all the time.
Ive heard it could be a vacuum issue??
any help on this would be brill.
I have a 2008 ford ka owned it for 6 months done 5k miles no issues and then the brakes totally failed ( pedal went to the floor)with just a fraction( hardly noticeable) of resistance when I first pressed the pedal. After stopping using the handbrake I checked the foot brake and it worked as...
