I noticed today that my o/s/r wheel was hot and smelt of hot brakes. I assume the Caliper is sticking on a bit. Is there a quick fix for this or is it best to replace the Caliper. I guess it is possible that it could be a handbrake issue. Thanks
  3. Electrical (Mk2 Focus)
Hi guys, please help. my mk2 focus estate has a lightbar behind the top of the rear window. It works normally with the footbrake. However it doesnt work at all with the handbrake and that is a requirement for the test. All the rear brake lights come on with the footbrake. I think the handbrake...
  4. Mechanical (Focus Mk3)
I am unable to depress the release button on the handbrake (thus unable to release said handbrake). I have tried with the engine running and engine off, and with/without foot brake being applied. I actually had this problem on the last use of the car (2 days ago) - the hand break would not...

  6. Suspension/Wheels/Brakes/Steering (Mk3 Mondeo)
Following on from my vid on the handbrake itself, here are the cables. This is an 'easy' job except for when you haven't done it before and every clip along the way is puzzle worthy of selecting MI6 recruits...

Specifically, upgrading the dodgy self-adjusting one to a manual one, but the process is the same regardless. Also, adjusting the adjuster so it's adjusted. Will do a separate vid on the cables. And the bloody seized up rear calipers.
  8. Suspension/Wheels/Brakes/Steering (Mk3 Mondeo)
Hi My Mondeo Mk3 failed the MOT. The issue is that the handbrake is too weak and that the lever can be pulled too far. I've found a tutorial on how to change the rear handbrake cables but I can't seem to find any information on how to change the front bit, from the lever to the adjuster. I...

  10. Suspension/Wheels/Brakes/Steering (Mk3 Mondeo)
Hi again, so I sorted out the squeak with the brakes, new seals and pads then bedded them in for a day - everything great. I decided to tighten up the handbrake as it gets a mention every time it's MOT'd so did that. Easy enough I thought but doing it lifting the side of the car meant not...
  11. Suspension/Wheels/Brakes/Steering (Mk3 Mondeo)

Yet another problem with my 98 Mondeo mk2 Today when I returned home from work, I parked the car as always and pulled the handbrake lever, I didn't notice any as the music was playing quite loud. But suddenly the lever was pointing straight up and the car would roll if pulled out of gear. I...

  15. Suspension/Wheels/Brakes/Steering (Mk1/Mk2 Mondeo)
Hello I have 2000 Mondeo v6. Last mot I got an advisory that handbrake was only just meeting requirements. On advice of tester I greased up the guide pins and put on new pads( disks aren't that old either) . Worked caliper brake arms with pliers, cleaned and greased and tried to "inject " some...

My mk3 facelift handbrake's slowly gone a bit slack over the years, probably due to cable stretch, would like to tighten it. Been reading that 99-02 got manual adjusters under the exhaust heatshield then 02-05 had auto ajusters located in the console area, but there were recalls but I can't...
