Hi all,
Apologies if this has been covered, I had a look but couldn't find it.
In the mk3 you could move a fuse and it would make the 12v socket (cigar lighter) live only when the ignition is on rather than constantly live. Is there a way to do this on the mk4(.5)? Also, do both sockets (front and rear centre console) use the same fuse?

Cheers

Thought the sockets were on a timer, after ignition off they stay live for 20 minutes or so then shut off.

Not aware of an easy way to change it without rewiring the fusebox.

Going to test this myself, do all the sockets power off after 20 or so minutes?

I think just unlocking the car activates them again though. Got some plug in voltmeters

so i can see them whilst the cars still locked.

It was a thread where someone said they used a small solar panel plugged into the

lighter socket to help prevent the battery going flat.

Thought wont the socket power off after a while?

Yes, permanently Live in the boot on the estates. On the Hatch they power off after 15/20 mins even if the car isn't locked (but are powered ON again if you open a door)

OP what are you hoping to do?

Checked mine and both the sockets shutdown before 20 minutes, checked

after approx 12 minutes and it had shutdown.

(both = the armrest one and the dash one)

Not checked the rear one yet, that was perm live on the MK3 though.

Yeah, seen that and replied. Also spoken in PM. :)

Just checked the voltage at the battery and at the dash lighter socket, dash

shows 0.25v less than direct at the battery. So not a million miles out.

(that was with the ignition off but door open)

Hi

Got a 2007 C-Max and the sockets stay on as the Dashcam stays on too. Is there a noob way to switch them off, when the ignition is off please chaps?

Cheers

You have posted in Mondeo section.
If yours is same as Mondeo, the sockets (excluding one in rear of estate model) turn off automatically after a few minutes of leaving locked vehicle.
When you unlock the veh the sockets are immediately live before you enter the veh

Hi. Sorry in Mondeo. Didn't realise.

No, they stay on indefinitely. I'll post in C-Max.

Thanks

No worries. That's a blow if they stay on permanently.
I am sure someone will have an idea on what you can do
