Owned For: 1 Year
Good Points: Massive boot, high trim level, well built, good looking car
Bad Point: Water ingress through boot, rusty door bottoms, fuel economy, TAX!

Fuel Economy:
Overall Rating:

My car is a 2003 (53) Mondeo 2.0 Duratec, Zetec trim but with the added benefit of heated leather seats. The car in my opinion is fully loaded, everythings electric and more importantly everything works. Except the motor that controls which way the heater blows, as since i've had the car it only blows on the windscreen.

In the year i've owned the car I have covered about 11,000 miles and it has never once skipped a beat, the engine is smooth and reasonably powerful and also quiet. Although, a 6th gear would be useful for motorway cruising and to try keep fuel consumption down. The best I had out of it was on a run from North Wales to Cardiff where I saw 39.9mpg, but around town and to work and back I only see 32mpg. The tax is also a killer, 12 months being £250!

I have done an oil and filter change twice in the year i've owned it and nothing has gone wrong mechanically. The boot tends to let water past the seal so in the winter months the rear window is permanently misted up. Also the bottoms of the doors on the inside were rusty when I bought the car. Although the rusting door problem was fixed in the later cars. After just flying through it's MOT, the tester did say that it could probably do with a rear arm bush at some point in the future, but this is a common problem and easy enough to fix.

All in all its a great, cheap to buy and maintain, large, reliable, good looking, well equipped car and I wouldnt hesitate to own another in the future.
