A couple months ago I had to replace the battery in my remote key, which I did without any problem. However the remote stopped working altogether. I looked up online for a resync procedure and completed that, I actually performed it a few times during that week, but the remote still doesn't seem to work. I went to a Ford dealership and the service department told me that it's a Ford dealer only repair and would cost me £300.
I assume they have to replace the receiver and code the key to the new device.
My workshop manual should be arriving in a couple of days, which will hopefully tell me where the receiver is located and possibly how to remove it, replace it and recode it, cause I'll be damned if I'm paying that price.

Anyone else had this problem and anyone got any other fixes?

Would be cheaper to try a second remote key or just circuit board of ebay to see if its the circuit board in the fob or not before going down the expensive receiver route.

Which procedure did you use? Not fitted the battery upside down? Sounds silly but its a very common mistake.
