205/55 R16 vs 225/50 R16

Just got some 16x7J alloys and the regular 205 looks too narrow for those rims. (the rim is ~5mm wider on each side than the tyre, and I already managed to scratch one of them :( )
What do I get/lose if I switch to 225/50?

i would go with 225 45 17 as that's the size that they told me is ideal when i changed my wheels from 16's to 17's 2 years ago...
i wanted to stick with 16"... How does your car feel on on the road with those wheels? (cornering, accelerating, braking, etc)

this are for sale now, and it's a 5 piece set... 4 plus one for spare fitted with falken 452 tyres with loads of thread left...

sorry about my reply, mate...if it was me for 16's i'll stick on the original profile of tires which is 205 55 16....so i won't have any worries as it's the standard on the car..

if you're upgrading then that's the time to think of changing the profile... but still the decision is up to you...
Larger wheels change the profile if not leave it as standard, otherwise your speedo will over read, use more fuel and give the insurance company a reason to void your insurance. Stick with standard profiles for what would be a minimal visual modification.
The speedo will show the correct speed.
The only difference between 205/55 R16 and 225/50 R16 is the width.
