Hi all,

I have a 08 mondeo estate 2.0tdci. Im in need of new tyres and since my job has me driving in mud/fields I got a pair of uniroyal M&S plus 66 at a bargain price of £200.

My only issue is I rushed into the buy and listened to guys advice on whether they would fit or not.. he said yes no problem.. yet Im hearing its a no no and now Im stuck with them!

I currently have 215 55 16 on and they uniroyals are 225 55 16. The guy said "they're only 10mm wider so it won't be an issue." Yet I've been told they will scrape front arches.

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi

If you have tyres measure their width compared to existing items, tyres from different companies can even measure different widths for the same size. Mostly narrower than stated size.

If they are larger by 10mm this translates to only 5mm a side.

Only side of tyre i would be wary of is gap between inner side wall and strut, plus check on full lock for gaps to suspension and brake pipes etc.

Most Mondeo models can run with 20mm wheel spacers so you should have no trouble on outside.
