Owning Experience
Owned For: Not owned, only driven for deliveries
Good Points: Grunty little motor for a 2L, fairly spacious, comfortable ride and fairly economical, relatively easy to drive.
Bad Point: 6 speed auto transmission is terrible and harsh, controls and displays very complicated, driving position not very good, shocking blind spots

How It Drives:
Fuel Economy:
Reliability:
Practicality:
Overall Rating:
I drive a fair number of new and late model cars for my job (I am a car painter and I do a lot of rental work involving pick-ups and deliveries) and I get to compare a lot of cars with each other. The 2011 and 2012 Ford Focus Mk3 Zetec is an interesting little car. With the 2 litre Duratec engine, it is a torquey little motor and has enough power to get you out of bad spots and skip along relatively quickly. It drives fairly well but feels a bit wandery at low speeds. At 65 mph it sorts itself out nicely and becomes a good comfortable cruiser. Around town, however, it is a pig to drive. The gearbox is harsh and slow to respond, the driving position is poor and visibility around the car is not very good (well at least for a big person such as myself, 6"1' and 110 kg so I'm not small), and the blind spots are massive, especially in the drivers side wing mirror with the silly dual-cut mirror. The gadgets and climate control and the other dash and steering mounted items are very complicated to use.
