Overall Rating:
I have owned 3 previous Mondeos, two 1.8D 125bhp Zetec and a 2.0D 140bhp Zetec. I bought a mondeo Titanium 1.6d Eco boost in January 2012. The Eco boost rating means I pay £30.00 road tax per year.
The car has good boot space and is well equipped with a good DABS radio. The most disappointing aspect of this car is its fuel economy. Ford brags 68mpg. I would think to do that the car would have to be on level ground with perfect weather on a slightly down ward inclined road surface, and with nothing being carried in the vehicle. I know that these figures are from the lab and that's where they should stay.
My Zetec 1.8d gave a regular 53mpg. My Zetec 2.0d returned 51mpg and unfortunately the ECOBOOST has failed to boost anything other than increased fuel bills with a very poor 48.7mpg. I have use all of my cars on the same route to and from work which is 80% motorway. Maybe the ECOBOOST refers to the low emissions and the savings on road tax it most certainly does NOT refer to its fuel economy. The car is sluggish when accelerating
My next car will most definitely not be this model.
