What is moosing?

Moosing is when you can hear a loud foghorn type noise coming from the bonnet.

When does moosing occur?

. When the air temp is cold
. when the car has just been started from cold

Extra loads on the engine can cause it:-

. A/C(depending on ambient temp as it won't work below 5 degrees)
. Moving the steering wheel,switching the heated (front) screen on.

Has anyone found that 'bliping' the throttle stopped the moosing? (I'm presumming that I am having problems with moosing).

Also, what is the reason for moosing?

i've just ordered one! (and an induction kit :whistling: )

mine does go away if you blip the throttle too but comes back a bit later

Hi- just fitted moose pipe with the chrome induction pipe - if you get into a bit of trouble with it and need some help then feel free to ask me how.

fitted the moose pipe was quite awkward to get it where i wanted so it didnt foul, the induction kit wouldn't fit together, i e mailed the guy it seems i have a problem kit so he said he would refund the cash, was very good service, only problem car moosed again this morning, not as loud and not while driving but its not fixed totally which is a bummer, is there anything else that can be done?

possibly check you fluid levels, mine always has to be just passed the max.if below then mooses like a bitc h! :L

Hi there.

Been on STDrivers forum and tried the link to racebits to try to purchase an anti moosing pipe, but all the links I follow all lead back to racebits who are out of stock.

I then get sent back to this thread.

Does anyone know where I can purchase one from?

Seems silly to make such a big deal about these pipes.
Prefered length is all thats required to stop the resonance, go down to your local hose/hydraulics place eg.Pirtek and buy a 80-90cm length of hose.

Each to their own mate, there's a lot of products out there that can be done the DIY way, it depends on the individual's preferrence to either buy the product or make the effort to gather the bits themselves
