is it not usually the crank pulley that rattles on these? could be an easy mistake to misdiagnose as chain, i think theres a washer or something that wears causing a rattle...
Anyone had a new chain fitted?
Sister just phoned me garage had called her to say the noise is not the drive belt.
They ran the engine with the belts off & the noise is still there, They presume the chain and/or tensioner to be at fault.
Has anyone had this done at a garage, if so at what cost?
Or done it yourself, How long did teh job take?
A rough estimate is £1000
