Hi all

just wondered if anyone has rebuilt their rear calipers on a 2002 tdci estate my bosch calipers have sticking hand brakes and despite several stripdowns to clean and lubricate the pivot they just bind up again a week or two later.

so it's time for a complete overhaul of the brakes just wondered if anyone new where i could get a complete seal kit to service the brakes???

any advice welcome....

regards

I have been in the same situation, the Haynes says they cant be user serviced, but that could be out of date now.

I ended up replacing one side, got it for £66 from a Motor factor after a bit of hagling.
i replaced one of the calipers on my estate , same problem has come back , from reading other posts it seems the cables sieze up, i have found this to be right, the spring is not strong enough to come back with cable attached, but disconnect the cable from the caliper ,it springs back, i have pulled on the cables to the full travel , put back together ,problem still there.im going to replace the cables
Hi all

thanks for the responses managed to find a complete set of caliper seals for front and rear calipers all delivered to my door for less than £60 i already have brake fluid so just my time involved from now on.

i have already replaced the handbrake cable on the side that is causing problems so it shouldn't be the cable's
the caliper arm return spring should be upto the job of returning the lever to the off position thats how it was desighned after all.

i have found tapping the caliper body gently causes the lever to release so guess it's seized up internally but i still wonder just how much of a pain it will be to re-assemble the rear calipers!!!!

still time will tell if the seals work out ok will post up part numbers e.t.c and contact details to supplier for anyone else thats interested.
