avons or falkens??

the last 2 years i have used avon zz3's religiously but i have found some falken 452's for Â£63 a corner as opposed to avon's Â£81.

just wondered what you guys thought of em if you use em, or what else do you use, i do alot of motorway miles

I have just replaced a set of 452's which came with the car, I could get 3rd gear wheelspin in a straight line if it was below 8-10 degrees celcius. They were near the markers though in fairness.

I've just changed to Avon ZV5, which have superceeded the ZZ3, and seem much grippier, and more precise. I have only had them on for 200 miles, so I can't compare like for like though.

Might be worth shopping around, as 452's and ZV5's were about the same price (in 16s at least)

I've got 452's on my fronts. They are grippy and good for the money. Throw up a lot of spray with the quite cool looking grip design tho so expect plenty of visits to the carwash if you haven't got mud guards. I like them and will be getting them again soon. Id say wear is average, grip good to very good. Value excellent. My only gripe with them is the sidewall on them makes you sometimes think they are going a bit flat when infact they are spot on pressure wise when you check. I recommend them tho regardless!

I have had both and never really rated falkens.

I had avons on my ST-TDCI and they performed much better than all the reviews suggested. My mate swears by Hankooks but i dont feel they suit the Mondeo well at all, and grip in the wet is rubbish.

Personally i would go with Avons.

had avons and wont touch them again, side wall cracked and always inflating them due to cracks

ok so no one seems to agree, very helpful thanks guys lol, thought i read somewhere that there is alot lot less road noise from the falkens, can anyone agree with that??

Ok Mate,

I would say if you have used Avons a lot then try the falcons, your in the best place to decide which is best then. I have had both and prefer avons, but in fairness the falcons werent on a mondeo but an Audi A4, guess a better comparison is on the same car.

Try these reviews, the falkens score much better but again it comes down to personal choice and how the feel on the car to you.

Thing with tires is its such a personal choice. The avons generally got good reviews, but when you read through a couple of people really really slated them. Maybe avon are prone to making the odd bad tyre?
