Has anyone had one fail, If so what were the symptoms??

I have a tapping noise and its very intermitant, Ive changed the idler pulley and tensioner pulley thinking it wa one of those but it wasnt, Ive listened to the alternator and its not that, Ive listened to the pas pump and its not that either, When I listened to the water pump I could here the tapping.

They are a piece of cake to change, FAR FAR easier than the silvertop one, Remove the belt, 3 X 8mm pulley bolt and 4 X 8mm bolts that hold the pump on, No messing with the cam bolt or covers.
pump doesn't tap they whine then they sieze up
change it any way peace of mind
Exactly, This is why I am confused, I took the AUX belt off and the noise went, Its not the idle or tensioner pulleys, Its not the alternator or pas pump, It could only be the water pump

Well, I changed the water pump, The noise has gone, There was no play in the old pump and it didnt look damaged but it must have been faulty
