Broken spring connector on clutch pedal (Mondeo Mk5 2016)

Bit of a strange one, but when I got in my Mondeo to drive this evening I noticed a spring connector was knocking against my clutch pedal.

The connector is still connected to the clutch pedal mechanism, but appears to have sheared away from when the other end it once connected to (not 100% sure where that should be).

My car still drives fine, and the clutch engages and disengages just as it did before, so not sure what the spring was there to originally do?

Any advice on whether my car is still safe to drive and how much I would be looking to replace this spring would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks!

This ( part 7L585) seems to be what the spring is for

Thanks Mike, funnily enough I stumbled over this same diagram this morning.

It appears to me to be non-essential (seems to provide resistance to the main clutch spring, also having trouble finding the part to buy, so not doubt it'll be £100's from a main dealer :(

My other concern is that it looks like the catch that the spring should connect to on the main clutch pedal mechanism has sheared off... I really hope that means Ford doesn't suggest I need a whole new assembly just for a spring?!?!?

Thanks again!
