How can i tell if my car has an electronic or cable driven speedometer without removing the dashboard? Im worried about removing the dash and losing any cables down the bulkhead if my speedo is cable driven!! My car is a 1995 mk1 M reg

Ive noticed a plug socket under the steering wheel, which i think is used for plugging in diagnostic reading equipment. Is this a clue that my speedo is electronic?

Iirc the trip reset is below the 0 mph on the cable units, the electronic units has the reset below the 150 mph

you wont lose teh cable down the back as its attached to the dash and just plugs into the instrument cluster. As said above if its on the left of speedo, then its cable if it on the right then its electronic
