Hi all, I wonder if any can confirm something for me. When I start the 1st thing in the morning or after being standing a dew hours, the revs will go up and then settle at around 1300 - 1500 rpm idling. Also my petrol light will flash on when the engine is turning, then go out when it starts, which is only briefly.

Though on damp morning, the car will start and go up to around 1200 rpm. When the revs are up, driving 3/4 mile down the road and if I stop, the the revs idle normally, around 1200 first, then dropping to 900 ish.

Is other peoples mondy like this or have I got a fault with the ICV or TPS sensor on the car, as otherwise I got no running issues whatsoever with the car at idle or driving when warm or cold. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

The engine does idle faster on a cold start, it doesn't often get that cold here in Australia, but I think 1200 rpm sounds about right. 900 rpm sounds about right as a normal warm idle speed too.

I'm unclear on the low fuel light thing though, it comes on for 5 seconds when you switch the key to ignition on and start positions as a self test. After 5 secs it goes out and should then only come on if you actually have low fuel.

Hi, thanks for the reply. It comes on for 5 secs when turning the the ignition on and goes out. Then when I turn the key, it comes back on and then goes out when it starts. I don't usally see it again all day, unless it goes cold/damp after quite a few hours standing.

I thought it was wierd as well, as the Mk 2 ain't got no self diagnostic codes that displays on the dash like a Mk 3 does.
