First ly i have a W Reg 1.8 Zetec.

Well, the fan comes on almost as soon as the car starts. For some reason it does switch of again quite quickly and only ever seems to go on when stopped (but not all the time).

I have read that the temp gauge must be high than middle on these cars...is that true? Mine doesnt, its around the N or O most of the time.

I did take it to the local ford dealer garage and was told this is normal. The car seems to run fine.

Really confused and looking for a little advice.

Thanks

its normal. The ECU actually sends the fan a signal to switch it off of low speed mode, so it maybe coming on for a second or so while the ECU boots. At least thats the only reason I can think of

if it is anything like the mk3 gauge then they are not very accurate at all , mine shows fully warmed up when the dashboard digital display can be as low as 60 deg c
