I was just wondering what people on here preferably with experiance in the two suggestions think i should do...

im, considering two options..

first option:- A Cosworth transplant probably from a sierra along with running gear...

second option:- is to turbo my 2.0L 16v Zetec engine and upgrade transmition and running gear?

so what do ppl think???

cosworth transplant would be better , it would produce more power but would either take alot of money or time

zetec turbo is cheap, fairly easy to get the parts for, other than the exhaust manifold,

id say go for the zetec turbo, they seem really popular at the moment and people are seeeing big bhp, and there are loads of sitess and lots of people to take advice off for the conversion but theres only one cosworth mondy out there, :whistling: ........ so far

avinitlage on here has done his own zetec turbo,

im planning on doing one in the near future too,

here are some websites m8.

http://www.zetec-turbo.co.uk/
http://www.fiestaturbo.com/articles/zetecturbo - very good guide,

few other good websites;

cheap and easy parts to use are,
inlet manifold from a xr2i 16v or Frst- bolst straight on but throttle control might need adjustment

Frst cross over pipe, or a Erst but Frst is better suited as ive heard it fits easier

Turbo, t3s are cheap however lagged, if u go for the t3 go for the escort cosworth as its designed for the revs of a 2.0 a t3 from an 1.6 Erst is a tad small and not as well suited,

t25 seems to be a good choice too, again not hard to get hold of, and makes for a driveable car

t2 is too small,

exhaust manifold, this is that hard part, the Erst fits the ports perfectly but ud need to drill holes and it fouls the radiator, id suggest having ur mondeo manifold modded with a flange to accept a turbo, avinitlarge used a t2 turbo technics manifold from a xr2 and they are extremely rare,

youd need a custom down pipe from the exhaust manifold,

management - FRST management is fine but it would be better to get Megasquirt as its about the same cost and youd be able to squeeze mmore hp out,

that shud keep u going for now,
reaer through the sites, theres a good few hours of reading to be done,

cheers
john

or you could always use a focus rs exhaust manifold as it bolts straight on with no fannying about, they do pop up on ebay from time to time.

You could also use some Focus RS parts. Exhaust-manifold, GT28 turbo etc.
-Low-compression pistons are a must.
-Maybe rods...
-Intercooler.
-Engine management and injectors.
-You also need boost-pipes.
There are a bit more parts you need, but these are the important parts.

And the most important thing: an Quaife ATB diff to get the power to the black stuff :woot:

speak to Reyland motorsport as they are about the only people who have done the conversion properly

and iirc they said they probably wouldn't do another as its a pig to do
