Remove the disc and switch everything off for a few minutes then power the

stereo on, what screen do you get?

Is the map disc in the map reader not a standard CD slot?

Dodgy websites mainly. You need to be careful and have your antivirus on max alert.

You need to burn the disc on your computer, power the system off after removing the

map disc, wait for a bit then power the system up inserting the update disc into the

map drive.

It can be fussy on the CDRW or DVD+R brand and the speed you burn it at, it was

mentioned that you burn it as 1x or 4x max.

Hi

If unit cannot read the disc it may be the DVD drive that has failed.

Hi

From reading different Forums, I believe producing a working DVD Map disc is complicated. Apparently you not only need the correct files but only certain makes of recordable DVD work along with specific DVD writers. Double-sided disc also has to be written using specific settings.

Im not sure where the links to the update file are on the net now but please heed the following advice..

The file is only 19mb in size.

80% of the updates downloaded from the net fail, resulting in permament failure of the DVD ROM.

The reason being is that the first & second part of the file are spun up to re install the firmware. This is indicated by a green progress bar updating the SH4. file.

The disc is then instructed to stop whilst that information is processed, then the third part is installed.

Just before the disc spins up again (with the progress bar on roughly 85%) it looks for the command to re spin the disc and install the final part of the reflash. During this time, it clearly states that the ignition should not be turned off.

If the third part of the file is corrupt, this screen will stay on until the user gets fed up and turns the ignition off or the battery goes flat.

This will then corrupt the mainboard chip and render the entire unit inoperable.

Its not all bad news, you may be able to find a decent link to the files in question , just please be aware of the risk involved.
