door locking problems

Almost certainly you will need to replace the driver's door lock motor unit, this is a common failure.
Options are new ££ or scrapyard with the possibility of repeat failure.

2nd hand units are okay, just try to get one as new as possible (not pre-face-lift as those lock units were more unreliable, they supposedly improved them with the face-lift but they will fit the same). Wreckers should also give you a warranty. I have a two year warranty on a replacement unit for my passenger door which is probably better than new from Ford.
