Please can someone tell me how to remove the chrome strips?

the design of the strips seems to mean that they are going to be rubbing against the paint in any case

i was just about to go looking for the post which tells you how to remove them as my originals have started to rot away but now i'm not so sure i want to replace them with the chromes.....
They are a poor design, especially the 50mm sections either side of the door opening.
I have looked at other cars VW etc and they have rubber all the way along, protecting the paintwork.

they sound more trouble that they are worth a big screw driver and fit non chrome ones lol ...but i have to say thay have done a good job on yer doors ...i got mine back after a bit of arch rust done and dusted and looking good :p
How long is the warrenty for rust? My mondeo is an 04 and its starting to show the rust under the strips.

I am pretty sure it's 12 years perforation warranty.

Have you got your paint/bodywork stamps in your service book, even if you have'nt i would still take your car
into your nearest dealer.
Just had mine repaired under warranty, done the 1st time, had car back then within 3 weeks worse than ever, believe it or not, the body shop manager of the Ford main agent it was repaired at asked me if I had any ideas!!!!!!! I ended up suggesting they use a square of clear 3m tape under the front corner prior to reassembling the weather strips to the doors.
It seems ok now

That is very much what happened with mine,i suggested they put some plastic shim in that area when they assemble the chrome strips,to protect the new paint.

My rust has reappeared and it will be getting done again in the near future.

It has to be a poor design by Ford, all other manufactures cars with chrome detailing on the door tops have a plastic strip under them,to prevent the above problem occuring.
Mine are starting to go, is it worth seeing what ford say, even though the last owner didnt service at the dealer?

You can always ask.
Cheap ass ford, something else to look forward too..mine look fine at the mo,but the worst bit as Kazuyadog said are the little strips that don't mate up on the centre door door frame sections..needs a filler but would probably worsen things..this is were ford fall down on quality,as opposed to a properly finished VAG trim....:(
Ford Mondeo mk3s along with the Focus 1& 1.5 had stated in the sales brochure's that they have a 12 year anti perforation warranty..but here's the rubb.. If that paint schedule that's inside the service booklet hasn't been stamped Every year after they have looked underneath and around for rust then they can and will wriggle out of any obligation they might have coming their way..bad buisness of which they are masters, once you've bought the car off them they want you long gone, never to come back.. until your out of warranty that is....
