Hi All,

Really sorry if this is in the wrong place or has been posted before but i have an 06 ST TDCI and the other day the glow plug light started flashing and there was a great loss of power.

Switched the car off and on and it was back to normal so i got home and called the AA out.

The bloke plugged his Laptop in and it came up with an EGR fault code.

So shocked it (hit it with a hammer) and unplugged it and said to get it to a garage ASAP.

My question is, Is the car ok to be driven as it is for now as the earliest i could get it booked in is monday 29.03.2010.

Could driving it damage the engine or should it be ok for a week if i do not boot it??

Any help will be greatly appreciated

sounds like the EGR stuck open, hence the "persuassion"

you may suffer better performance and less smoke till fixed......lol
Lol i thought as much as the car seems alot quicker than before (might just be me though)
.

Been quoted £200 for EGR and fitting at my local garage.

Might just bite the bullet and have it done not sure yet though.

Thanks For Your Help
If you can find a way to stop it triggering the management light (I presume there's a way with later EGRs) the best, and cheapest thing to do is just blank it off.

are the wires off yr EGR sender? (or by "unplugged it" do you mean the laptop?

if so, have you got an engine management light on?
