The 2.9L V6 12 Valve block should have part number... 87TM6015AA stamped on the blocked itself.

Hard to see from the pictures but is that 86 (1986)?

Engine was new in a crate never fitted came from Ford factory in Ireland (cork) it has no number stamped in the block hence my reason for the question

Is it chain driven or gears?

Does it have a distributor? The number should be near that or near where that would normally fit.
Could be engraved so maybe hard to see if its been painted.

the only difference in that engine over it's lifetime is limited to the type of fuel rail it has, pressed steel or aluminium and the tappets are either mechanical or hydraulic
you can adjust the mechanical ones but not the hydraulic ones
they came in the cat versions of the car so if it's an early one and pre 90 it's most likely to be the standard unit
