escort van speedo

Hi
anyone got an idea why when i start my 2001 scrote van the fuel, temp milometer dont work when i start it up. the oil, battery, handbrake lighs work.but not the rest after about 30 secs i hear a clunk and they all work.
any help please.

Yes a clunk like a relay.i put new glow plugs in and still a bgger to start first thing so wondering if its the glow plug relay but would that affect instruments.
