Its called the Y pipe, it bolts to the pre cats that make the downpipes on both sides of the engine and the flexi section is part of it making it an expensive part.

You have 3 options-

1 - Find a used one on Ebay or somewhere else who has used parts.
2 - Try Ford for one new and 'if' they have one, take lube cos they will shaft you hard.
3 - Go to an exhaust specialist and they will cut the old one off and weld a brand new flexi section on for about the same as a used one on ebay.

As far as i know, nobody has ever made a pattern part and its a genuine ford part only.

I had one cut off and a new one welded on when it failed on my previous V6 mondeo and also my VR6 Galaxy which also have the dam things welded to the Y pipe.

Its no fun removing the Y pipe, expect rust in your eyes as you are trying to look up at the securing bolts pre cat end while getting a socket on them, if you have the old one cut off and a new welded, they will likely want to have it on the car for positioning, saving you work and crap in your eyes!

Is the section actually blown ? Or is the outer mesh just loose ?

Had this on my Astra once years ago, was loose for years but no consequence as wasn't leaking.

Just a thought

Ta
yeah, the braiding on mine is in a real state, i stretched it out and clamped it down with a jubilee clip a couple of years ago but thats rusted and broken away, i have left it alone since as its not really a problem.
