I’m going to replace my outdated SD card on my 2009 titaniumX with the blaupunkt FX travelpilot fitted in it. Is it just a case of taking the old card out and popping in the new updated one or is there a system to follow when installing ??

Exacty that. The system will automatically update from the new card when you switch on.
I updated the card on my previous car, a 2010 Sport, which had this unit.

Be aware that if this is the card that was in there since built of the car (2009) you need to do an firmware-update prior to use a newer maps. You should update anyhow ;-)
