Handbrake Cable Gone Again??me

Hi,

My handbrake cable has came loose again and I need to pull the handbrake up alot to prevent my car from moving on steep hills.

I had this last time as I accidentally was driving with the handbrake on! I think my Dad done the same.

Is this a new handbrake cable I could smell a burning smell the last time actually had white smoke coming out but could smell the same the other day.
