You would have thought they would have invented better connectors to go with the windscreen then I wouldn't have had to dismantle it all just to clean one connector to get the drivers side working...

None as far as I am aware. Ford invented the HEated Windscreen.
That's what I beleive. I have never seen a heated windscreen on any other car except for Fords.
Not even BMW's have it!

I thought Ford had the 'rights' , 'patent' or whatever ...

nice move.. with it being a safety device ..

breaking news .. skoda have the rights to abs ..
crakkin ..

my mk3 has it, and Im yet to need it .. ( ok, so Ive only had it since April, Im sure itll be required in dec / jan / feb )
the BMW 5 series didnt... but it did have a 'latent heat store' system in the climate system .. so the air fired at the screen was warmer than ambient anyway.. did same job, didnt put load on alternator / battery.. added bonus of an almost instant warm cabin .

I knowwhat system Id rather have .. even though Im sure the heated screen is fantastic ..

I used to drive buses that were fitted with heating elements in the windscreens, and I've had them on all my cars since my Mk3 Fiesta Ghia which had them fitted (a 1991 car).

You don't really need it very much, but to jump in the car on the driveway, heaters on and the quick clear screen working its magic sure beats scraping or squirting de-icer over the screen and spending ages chipping through ice!
