My mate has locked the keys in the boot and has no spare!! Its a '99 mondeo salon, Anyone know how to open the boot????

I have heard that some folks know of a way to open the boot from outside, but it's not the kind of info that is often posted online, for obvious reasons.
Can you not just simply lever the top of the drivers door open a tiny bit, and then use a long lever (whatever is to hand, like a long bit of stiff wire or something) to hook open the door release handle or boot release lever.

If you only open out the top of the door a tiny bit, it will spring back into place, or can simply be pushed back. Even something like a wooden door wedge will do it, as it will release the top edge of the door enough to get the wire in, but should not damage any paint work.

Sorry I can't be of more help.
We can get into the car just not the boot
im sorry to say this but can you not just put the back seats down and get it from there?

im not sure if the back seat go down in a saloon!?!?
Back seats went down in my mk1 saloon but they were released from inside the boot under the shelf
is there not a rear arm rest that you can lower to get your arm into, its years since i was in a mondeo i can not remember what they look like inside
I've done it, but wasn't pretty! There's 2 holes in the parcel shelf, I stabbed a knife through and cut round the hole so could get my arm in to release seats so could get in for keys.
This was a Mk1 saloon.
Just hid CD cases over the hole so my mate never noticed :laugh:
once youre in the boot rip the trim off the lock and pull the cable with pliers to pop the boot mechanically :)

if hes keys are in the trunk, why not just grab the keys and open the trunk up without ripping the trim :laugh:
Hang on (as you never metioned you could get into the car)!!
Why not just lift up the rear seat base and then just undo the bolts/pins that secure the base of the rear seat uprights. You will then be able to pull the uprights forward at their lower edge and should be able to hook the keys out or push the rear seat release pins (the ones you are supposed to use) with a stick or something. Then the seat will come forwards properly

That's exactly what I was thinking. Am I missing something here?
nope just me!!!!was it late when i posted? :}
not particularly...

but i was :smoking: :smoking: :smoking: :}
what have u been smokin?

:whistling:
what havnt i more like :}
Is it me, or has no one posted anything about whether this has been sorted or not, after asking for advice?

Just thought I'd ask, as a lot of folks have tried to help.
if it's an 99 car and it's unlocked then why wouldn't pressing the boot lock below the drivers side rear light cluster unlock it? Or do the saloons not have that?
they do have it but i dont know why it wasnt attempted here?

either you are the first to suggest it (congrats) or it is like alot of cars, broken!

:)
anyone silly enough to lock their keys in the boot might be silly enough not to know about the lock being the release button :p
That may be true, although I was giving the benefit of the doubt and assuming it was broken. on the other hand, I also assumed they were locked out of the car, as the post was asking how to get into the boot only!

I was reading a joke about someone who had their keys locked in the car on my I-phone last night.

'Did you hear about the blonde who locked her keys in the car. She had started to panic, as it had started to rain, and the top was down!'
