there is only two ways you can do it baiscaly you have to dril the sheer head bolts each side of the lock out you will proberly find the lock is fine but there is a plastic rod that goes between the lock and bonnet catch.
you can rip the grill out or some people drill a hole behind the ford badge then use the badge to hind the hole anyway once the lock is out use a long screw driver to open the lock remembering the lock has to be turned left then wright to open
sorry this is long winded but i hope you get the idea there is no other way as theres no cable to pull
Either pay Ford a couple of hundred quid to sort it out or as said above do it yourself as in the 'how to'

good link nice that somebody has took the time to show how to do it i bought the rod from ebay £10 as ford insist on selling this with a new lock you dont need £60 then £35 to match the lock to your key but beware there is two sizes for the rod depending on the grill you have
Thanks for that steve will give it a try.

DO NOT drill out the bolts - there is a high probability that you will destroy the threads that the bolts sit in - if you do this your into a world of problems.

Cut a slot in the bolt heads and use a screwdriver - they are not in very tight so a small slot will work
even cheaper don't bother replacing the lock - just keep a screwdriver handy for when you need access - poke it into the front of the grill to engage with the mechanism and turn to open
Thanks for all the great advice, i'm new on this site but it's been a great help.
My husband took note of all the info & we can now open the bonnet- yeh.
Not gonna replace the lock screwdriver works fine & although we cracked the grill, it was a clean break & it's now repaired & you can't tell it was ever broken.
