I have just had a new timing belt kit fitted to my Mk2 Mondeo 1997 2.0 now when I start the car I get a loud rattle as soon as the engine starts I took it back to the garage they said I need an oil change as it is a sticking hydraulic valve but I don’t think so I have had sticky hydraulic tappets before and they make a ticking noise. This noise only lasts for a second then stops. Any suggestions?

It may just be the upper plastic cambelt cover, loosen it or take it off to find out if it makes any difference.
