How to unlock all doors

When I unlock the car with the key fob only the drivers door unlocks. I have to open the passenger door from the inside and this then unlocks the rear doors at the same time. Can i program the key to unlock all the doors? :stir:

You have to press the unlock button twice to unlock all of the doors.
i have this problem but my key fob dose not work??
You should be able to change the way the central locking works so that it unlocks all the doors with one press.

Its in the handbook (don't have mine to hand) or probably in the Wiki
you may have a fault with you central locking. try reprogramming the key, if no luck, disconnect the central locking module for an hour then reconnect and reprogram.it is located behind dash above accelorator pedal. if still doesnt work you may have to replace drivers door lock. i had the same problem on my old mk2. good luck.
It's not a fault, it's meant to be like this on the MK2's, it even says about it in the owners manual.

It works like this via the remote but not via the key and as far as i know it cannot be changed.
Almost all of them are set to unlock the drivers door on one press and all other doors on the second press. If you press the unlock button twice and only the drivers door opens you have a fault with the central locking somewhere.

There are instructions on how to change it from two stage unlocking to one stage, but no one could get it to change, there is a large thread on here about it.
I think it is only possible on the MK3's. Does not work from my own experience on MK2's. Although, it doesn't bother me by having to press the button twice, what's one more push? ;)

this has been discussed before, i still seem to be the odd 1 out and can open all doors with 1 button press :D
Mk2's should open all doors with one press.

Mk3's have the one press/two press options

Two Stage Unlocking

Press both Lock and Unlock buttons on you key at the same time, wait until the
indicator lights flash once.
When complete two stage unlocking will be activated / deactivated accordingly.

My Mk2 has two stage unlocking and can't seem to change it! Think the later ones had the two stage unlocking..
I have a 1997 Ghia with either 1 stage and 2 stage unlocking. To change between the 2, I press both the lock and the unlock buttons at the same time. This is with a 2 button remote.
I tried this the other night and it didn't work and that was with a 2 button and 3 button remote on a 1998 Ghia X.
I seem to have heard all this before.
