Hi as the title says .... Indicator and hazzards tick as normal both L and R theres No green flashing dash light and no indricators are working.... its a 2003 20l petrol.... Only just had the car so it may be an old problem and never got noticed untill another driver politly said 'which effing way you going' .... car has a tow bar other than that all quite standard.... I think I've checked the right fuses, and swapped out the stalk as theres a spare mk3 here in spares... Any help much appriechiated ..Thanks

Interior lights working including the dimmer?

Faulty GEM module? Had any water leaks in the drivers footwell?

Fuses F25 (15amp)

F24 (20amp)

Earth point E12, E13 and (E14 = GEM earth), worth checking the earth points.

Hey massive thank you.... I was a bit more focused this time ..... F25 was missing altogether from the previous owner, popped a 15amp in and all works fine now... Champion!!

Worth sanity checking all your fuses then. If someone has been in there and left a fuse out, they probably didn't know what they were doing.

My brother bought a BMW with a faulty electric window. I opened the fusebox and found the previous owner had installed all the fuses back randomly. Almost all of them were the wrong rating. The fuse for the electric seat had been wrapped in copper wire! If there had been a short that would have caused a fire, or at the least a horrific battery drain.

As it turns out, there was nothing at all wrong with that seat, they were just shoving a 5A fuse in there, instead of the correct 30A. I'm pretty sure the window worked again too once I put the correct fuse in.

As for Mondeos, they have a tendency to act strangely when fuses blow or go missing. Issues like the one you've had aren't uncommon. It's as if instead of a feature completely breaking, it'll half work or just do something really weird. The brake lights coming on when the clutch is pressed is another one I've seen caused by a blown fuse. No idea why the fuse blew, never happened again on that car.

Worst bodge a Rover SD1 with enough extra wire to fill a shopping bag.

A bunch or wires went between the drivers and passengers doors. Assumed

additional speakers or maybe the central locking or electric windows did not

work. This was back when these items were luxury not a standard.

Ripped all the wiring out with the idea of fault finding the real fault but everything

worked. Not a single problem with the electrics. Rare for a Rover.

Why all the extra wiring? No idea but there was a lot of it.

Was it white..... I just bought a white Astra with a leeking roof and filled a bag of random spare wires..... Yes it was a Police car for most or its life

Nah it was a red one. Had the 2.6 engine originally. Bought an ex-police SD1

for the engine. It had been tinkered with and came with just one exhaust box

instead of the usual 3.

Wow did it burble when pulling it off the trailer. Thought no way could i use it

like that. It would have every police car within a mile switching on the blue lights.

Although it did try ripping the trailing arm brackets from the sills.... Although

fairly young at the time I dont remember the insurance being that expensive.

Those were the days, those cop SD1s were quite something back then :)
