I thinkn i read somewhere that this controls a 'Panic Alarm' feature on Mk3 Mondy or ST220 alone..

Cant get mine to work, i press it and shout HELP HELP thats about it.. Car wont do anything..

Does it need programming in?

I have the same problem with my 2004 zetec s. The fob works fine. Locks unlocks opens the boot and does all it should but no alarm panic feature. The alarm def works ok. I have the motion auto lock activated unless this has something to do with it?

Doesn't seem to work on ST220 or later Mk3. Works on our later Focus but not the early one. So no hard and fast rule.

doesnt work on our 2004 either, was told its not used on facelifts.

The button only works with pre facelift models & if the key has been modded for the Mk2.

There was a lot of changes made on the facelift models.

Depends on when your car was made. If it on a 03/53 plate it will one of the first's facelift models, so the spec might be different to the later models.

Facelift models didn't come out proper until on 53 plates.

The prob is that it won't work on cars with the Cat1 alarm. The ST220 has been fitted with Cat1 from Day1, the regular cars have it from 2003.75MY (facelift).

So, if you have motion sensors in your interior light, you don't have the panic facility.

In my experience it was of little use other than for scaring cats!
