Hello, I have a 2018 Kuga Titanium 1.5 Ecoboost 150 manual with 12k on the clock. I've noticed an intermittent tapping noise, almost like noisy hydraulic tappets intermittently on start up after the car has been sitting for more than 10-15 minutes. This only lasts a second and then stops and otherwise drives fine. My gut instinct tells me oil isn't getting to everywhere immediately on start up, hence the tapping noise. The dealer who did a very coursery listen when I had the clutch slip detection recall done suggested it was fuel injectors but I'm not convinced.

Anyone any thoughts?

Many thanks!

Difficult to say without hearing it.
It is probably nothing to worry about.
Like many other manufactures these engines are direct injection, same as 2 litre ecoboost.
All direct injection engines all sound "like a bag of spanners" especially at idle.
The noise from injectors is the same as having noisy tappets
Many people complain about noisy tappets on direct injection engines, when in fact it is just normal injector noise
