Sorry if the answer is on a post but i am in a pickle. My girlfriend has lost her MK1 key and it only had that one when she bought it so she has a car parked up in a dodgy car park and no way to get into it.Which is the best thing to do as the Ford dealer said to get the RAC to open it and get the number off the ignition barrel and they could sort it from there unless someone knows better.
A less inportant question is i have a MK1 mondeo too and all i have is a black key with a red insert so how do i go about getting a spare key in case the same thing happens to me.
Cheers all

Cant help with your girlfriends car, but to code new keys on a MK1, you need the red master key, and any coded key to code new keys yourself, as you dont have the red master key, Ford have to do it, and it will cost £100 plus. Some locksmiths will do it now, you will have to phone round and find one, I THINK they charge about £70.

Cheers for your reply the RAC man could not get in either as it is deadlocked so it looks like loadsamoney but it is comforting to know the car is quite secure. One thing Mr RAC did was fiddle about under the car right underneath the boot release by the drivers seat and poked a screwdriver through the mat and gave the boot release a poke and if the car had not been deadlocked he would have opened the boot.I would recommend people doublelock the car when they leave it.

I tried the key to my Mondeo but no luck but i have had a quote from a locksmith to get in the car and supply new keys with the electronic widget for £150 plus vat so if we cant find the lost key at the park where my better half lost it i will try these people and if it is all good i will add a post on it.

well i would be looing at a window break as you can pick these up in a scrapy after rac towed it back home and cover the window at least you would get access to the key number and would be cheaper than a locksmith breaking into the car

or you could go into the car and remove the door card and unplug the drivers and passangers door loombs this should confuse the system into thinking the door is open and remove the dead locks at least you could get a second hand set of locks and imobiliser matched with a key or two
