Mk1 Airbag light now only works intermittently.
It should come on for a few seconds when key turned to position 2.

Over the last couple of days it has only worked at the first start of the day and very rarely after that.

There is no flashing.

Any ideas gratefully received as MOT due later this month.

I dont think airbags are part of the mot

Not covered by mot, mines on all the time! And its just had a mot. Its probably a dodgy or loose bulb!

it is covered by the MOT but usualy overlooked, but it should light up in sequence, either way id rather it works correctly, to show teh system is working,

Are you sure it is the airbag and not the pre tensioners I think you'll find that they use the same warning light. If so a common fault is the connector under the seat. Might need taking apart,cleaning and refitting

The pre-tensioners on mine are not electrically fired - mass/spring system.

I will probably disconnect battery, wait, remove and check all plugs and wiring.

I still think, this is a dodgy bulb! My airbag light is on all the time! If you pull the fuse, disconnect any yellow cables, or the airbag has deployed then the light is set to stay on. Otherwise the light will flash a code.

I'll give bulb, connections etc a check and let you know if I find anything.

Glad it's not part of MOT but would like to ensure it IS working.

i had the same problem and it failed the mot
mine was a doggy wire

Which wire?
Was it rubbed, or due to movement of the loom and how did you find itor?
It would be nice to narrow this down please.

i had a loose wire behined the dash i just moved all the wires around and it went out then on i just cut the wire falty bit out and replaced it workes fine now
