I've got a headlamp bulb out, so I'm going to replace the pair and the sidelights as the bulbs in them at present are terrible and hardly put out any light!

Any recommendations on which bulbs to go for, and where would be the best place to get them?

Many thanks!

Ebay is a good place for bulbs or autobulbsdirect.com

As for the bulb type, it depends if you have the early or later style headlights. The early ones are the ones with the plastic filter in. IIRC these are 1 set of H1 and 1 set of H7. The later ones (without the plastic lenses) are 2 sets of H7.

That will be the early ones with the filters. See if someone else can back me up as I'm not 100% but I think they are H1 & H7 (don't know which are the main and which are dipped). If the light is not to great, you could do with checking to see the colour of the filters. They are prone to turning yellow and making the lights duller.

Your right about the filters causing a lot of dulling in the lighting department, but the early MK1's used H1 bulbs for both the dip and the main beam.

As for what to go for bulb wise, Osram Silverstar, Philips Vision plus or Ring Ultra Xenon would be a good place to start if you want to keep to the standard lighting and would cost around the £20 mark for a pair of bulbs. HID would give you a vast improvment, but this can be an expensive option to undertake, from around £100 upward.

:whistling: :eek:fftopic: Just a quickie to say thanks for the badge mate, does make the rear end look a lot better :L
