Is MK1 and MK2 suspension interchangable? Alot fo the lowering kits available claim to be for the mk2, was wondering if these would fit my mk1?

the rears are the same but the front shocks are different. so if you want a mk2 kit you will need mk2 front shocks.

I was planning on getting shocks and springs in a complete kit. So if I do that will I be able to use a mk2 kit?

yes you will because your using a mk2 shock and spring its just the spring seats and the front springs are different really the fitting of the shocks themselves are the same.
