Yep sounds like you clutch is not disengaging properly.

Could be that it needs adjusting.

Does it feel ok when you press the clutch pedal or is it very light?

could be a seized release bearing or something?

i opened the rubber clutch cover and had the pedal pressed and the thrust bearing was going in and out looks like normaly with no noise the pedal seems soft compared to my wifes escort its weird as when its driving it goes up and down through the gears easily with no problems at all ill check the gearbox oil and put it on ramps to see if theres any prob on gearbox but if you have any other things to check in the meantime id be grateful thanks

do you have a cable or hydraulic clutch

if cable, is may just need adjusted, if its hydraulic - do you have plenty of brake fluid? which direction did you bleed the clutch, although it normally works ok doing it top to bottom, its actually meant to put the fluid in through thr bleed nipple (at least that what the service book says)

is your slave cylinder leaking (is there any fluid on the bottom of the box?)
