Hi

Just got a '96 Ghia X and the only way I can work out to open the boot is by putting the key in the lock.

With this being an early Mk2, does it not have the electric release?

The remote I've got is a 2 button IR remote.

Can anyone shed any light on this? Is it normal?
Is it possible to retrofit the electric release button into the boot?

Also, does anyone know how to set the date and time on the trip computer? Thanks!

Thanks!

theres two devices which in some way control the boot release.

One is on the back of the lock and the other is to the left of the locking mech above the rear bumper held in by two torx screws.

Either one of these could of failed i guess preventing the boot opening electronically

hmmm ... looked under the plastic cover by the boot lock and there is the solenoid for electric release. But there is no button on the boot and it's an infra red remote. maybe i'll wire a switch into the dash? i used to have a saab 9-5 with the boot button on the driver's door, worked pretty well.
