Well i broke it, The turbo died alot and the compression was low on cylinder 3. I am now gonna rebuild but im gonna riddle out the few problems it had. That is one of the conclusions we have come to, I am gonna completly strip the lot, I am not gonna be happy until ive found the problem. Then when it get rebuilt its getting ceramic coated pistons, ARP rod bolts, Bigger blower and Focus RS fast road cams. I am hoping to be looking at well over 250bhp when its done, All I need is some money to do it now. Ive made a start stripping the engine but its too cold to do it every day. Ive also got my big turbo

piston 3 seems to be the problem on a few cars
the big power (800+hp) evo 8's have all pop piston 3, its something to do with the water jacket design on them

sorry to hear it mate. check out www.marcymotorsport.com for cheapish new blueprinted engines with forged pistons etc, and www.focussport.com for cheapish pistons and decent conrods etc.

do you think the knackered turbo caused the prob? it was a low miler lump you used wasnt it?

so its gonna be a pukka rebuild then, didnt u have the arp rod bolts before?

No ARP bolts, The bottom end was 100% std, I Still wouldnt Have a T3, Thats why I bought my favorite turbo, T28. I had one on my S13 200SX (1.8) It ended up with 280bhp @ the wheels. Its basically a Low lag T3, I can boost high and it spools up nearly as quick as the T25 I was using. I wanted a little bit more lag anyway, The T25 was boosting too quick and i couldnt get traction from a set off, With the lag I should beable to set off without doing a burn out.

I dont think the turbo caused the prob, Look at the state of it, It looks like its been on its way out for a while, Loads of play in it, The compressor has shattered too. The engine was low mileage, There is still no wear on the bores and the pistons are still mint. Ive bought another engine now so I should beable to make me a good one from them both. Im not drilling the head for the manifold to fit, That idea was a bad one from the start, Im having a Sunny GTIR manifold adapted so it bolts straight on.

could be a small phone and a t28 or a hybred.
Its a nokia 7250, Not a very small phone really, The turbo is much bigger than the T25 I had on

Well, the 1st thing I am gonna try is a V6 box, I will have to fit the internals from the V6 box into a 2.0 casing. If that doesnt work I will be asking my mate to build me a stronger box.

in my opinion your better off buying something fast to start with and work from there...all the time effort and money its gonna cost you and your still gonna be wandering everytime you drive her if she'll pop again...youv'e already quoted to owning a 200sx and talking about a sunny gtir gasket so i think there lies yours answer...buy something jap which is already quick and reliable and far more easier to tune for big power hikes :D as for number 3 cylinder popping probaly due to excess heat...skylines running big power suffer number 6 piston at the rear and as a cure they wrap the header and turbo in heat wrap to stop the build up of heat flowing to the rear of the engine bay..........

Disagree, 200SX and a GTIR, Far from realiable, a Std 200SX is Not quick, I only worried about it going pop for the 1st few months, Its been done nearly 2 years with only a couple of tiny problems. As for cylinder 3 going low, The Cause was a leaking NISSAN injectors causing exesive bore wash, The temp never went over half way whilst driving it. If I wanted to buy a quick car I could have bought a 360bhp cossie, I wanted to be different and I have been

its not just the go fast bit, its the bit where you beat the 'faster cars' in your 'slow mobile'

think about it, the look on the the guy driving a scooby or boxter, when he relised he couldnt keep up with the Rover 600 he was racing, with no signs off modifications any-where to the un-trained eye.

oh the said 620 wasnt mine, but a guy i knew who was pushing out over 300bhp, and custom gearing.

and your useing NISSAN injectors :whistling: seriously though i know where your coming from with being different and if your happy with it carry on and good luck... 200sx being reliable depends on who is doing the map and tuning work..agree the 4 pot is not the worlds best but 197bhp 0-60 in 7.3 all going through the rear wheels aint a bad car and can be tuned with power for peanuts...

which garrage you use streetboy, i'm going for 200bhp from my 1.8 which can be done fairly reliably, but i cant pay them peanuts do it. they only except pound sterling. :whistling: :stir: about £15K for the 2ltre conversion to push upto 300bhp. :D

when i got my nissan i had it checked over by a nissan mechanic who my bro in law knows to make sure the fueling etc etc was as it should be and everything was..all the other simple servicing i do myself and any tech stuff like cambelts i have my bro in law do for me but a yr on and the car is still running as sweet as ....reference to bad maping/tuning was based on posts ive read on other sites in the jap community....if i were to have some major tuning work done (which im not because i dont track or drag so whats the point when you can only do 70mph) abbey motorsport would be my 1st choice and 2nd would be rising sun performance who both specialize in japs..your better off going to a specialist who knows the in and out of your car or one who comes recomended....

15k for a 2.0ltr conversion gaining 100bhp bargain...12k can get you 600 horses and a well mint car thrown in for free :D

i know but id rather pay 15,000 peanuts, would only cost me around £15-20 then now that would be a bargain lol.

these guys now the k-series proberly better than most other people.

as they worked direct with Rover with its development.

other good ones are Dave Andrews, WSR racing, (not sure if they deal with the general public) and moto-build are pretty successfull in the racing elise and mg'f, as are techspeed.

PTP seem ok they have some gear on there but surely 200 bhp should be enough to keep you happy in the mgf..one of the wifes cousins had one and from what i camn remember is was a quick car..he then sold it and got a scooby sti which he has just sold due to a baby being born and now running a new mazda6 company car
