Hi! I've got a Mk3 GhiaX 2002 reg. I didn't know the doors could be set to 'motion lock' until I read it in 'workshop'. I've tried the lock and unlock 3 times thing exactly as per the instructions, plus every other combination I could think of.:angryfire: Next door keep peeping, they're now certain I'm nuts. It seems simply enough. What can I be doing wrong, anyone have any ideas,

It took me a while to get mine sorted too. Although my focus worked on one attempt.

Make sure you pull the interior handle slightly just to unlock the door rather than opening the door completely. Another thing is take your time perhaps going too fast (locking and unlocking like a mad man) could be confusing it.

Keep trying it will work in the end.

!!!!!!!!!! , dont pull the door opening handle at all , use the little locking tab above the opening handle , having said that , be prepared to still fail as a lad at work could not get his to autolock either , never found out why not :sad:

I know a lad who used to have a Clio 172 Cup, that had a motion lock on it, but he had it disabled because it burnt out his central locking.

Hmm Unlocking and locking like a mad man, sure you've not been peeping with next door, seriously tried it fast and slow, (I mean the locking)

Oh Bum! I just saw big pound signs flash before my eyes think I might leave it alone. Although I have worked with French electronics and often found them to be c**p. Some good, but often c**p

Have tried the tab, and the handle, gently, so as not to open the door, tied it fast and slow, plus any which way. Think I'll have to resign myself to it not working on mine, :sad: but with my luck it is probably just as well after that Clio story. Anybody found 'motion lock' has caused central locking probs on their Ford.

It took me 2 goes to set mine, all I can suggest is look in the Meets section and find a meet that is happening near you, and see if anyone there that has a Mk3 that can help ya.

Although this is for a Mk3 a mate has asked me will it work on a Mk1. Any ideas?

I've told him to try it any way and see what happens and let me know.

As Paul said.. You 'MAY' be able to get it to work on a Mk1 or Mk2 if you fit the GEM (Generic Electronic Module) from a Mk3, and even this will have to be origonally programmed with that feature, unless its a standard feature. I think also that the GEM has to be 're activated' following removal and installation therefore that would also mean a trip to the dealers.

The GEM sends a pulse to the locking system when the VSS tells it too, normally when the car is travelling 5mph or more. In theory, just off the top of my head you may be able to get it to work, however the Mk1 does not have a VSS feed as far as i know.

Maybe this can be a project for someone ? I have a spare GEM in the shed, although it seems a lot of work for the feature.
