Does anyone know how to sort out extreme tappet noise??? It all started when the engine oil was lost due to a split in the sump (Bloody Sleeping Policemen). Sump has been replaced but now the inlet of no 1 cylinder creates a hell of a loud rattle. :thankyousign: Also now there is little power when accelerating and car strugles to go any where

tell it to shut up.

ok,you didnt hit the the exhaust by any chance. worth check the exhaust manifold isnt creaked or leaking.

it could be a stuck tappet tho if you run her with no oil, so try getting some wynns tappet juice, from a motor factor near you. :L

spun rod bearing aslo sound like bad tappets, so make sure that isn't it as well, and just replace them, that's your best bet, seeing the tappets would be damaged form loss of oil, if the noise indeed is from there. However, tappets can last loinger without oil than bearings, so get everythign checked out.
