Noticed a squeaking noise with 1st/2nd gear

hi, me again. Due to previous issue I've had to keep ma car windows open for next few days to vent out the car but in doing so I noticed that my car squeaks when I change in or out of 1st and 2nd gear. All other gears are quiet... I've googled around and some people seem to say it's related to a belt going? just curious as to what you guys think and doesn't Ford Mondeo's 02 plates have chains? not belts? so therefore this could not possibly be the issue?

Squeaks - or a squeal from the clutch when it bites. Squealing (for me) meant DMF on its way.

They do have a timing chain but i belieive the Mondeo also has a belt which runs with it.
