Can anybody help, mk3 1.8 duratec 2001, started to misfire today, HT lead is fine, 1st spark plug was covered with oil 2nd plug had a bit of oil on it (looking from left to right, as you look at the engine) crank case gasket looks intact - no oil running down into the sparkplug well. The car does not overheat, and there is no oil in the water/water in the oil, although there is some oil drops being spit out of the exhaust.

I guess this is the piston ring?. I have cleaned all the oil of the plugs, but still misfires - any ideas?

could be worn bores (pistons/ gummed rings) or valve guides/ seals, overfilled with oil/ wrong grade of oil, blocked pcv valve or breather, try running it and pulling the breathers off- see what happens

was my answer useful? please press "like this", thank you
